FamilyFun focuses on exciting things that families can do together. It offers creative activities, party plans, family travel, and learning projects. It provides enriching experiences that parents and children can share.

History of FamilyFun

FamilyFun was founded in 1991 as a magazine for families with children ages 3 to 12 and now has 2 million subscribers. Its intent was to give families information and inspiration ideas about how to create enriched and memorable times together for parents and children.

Features of FamilyFun

FamilyFun presents ideas that are entertaining for the whole family, are relatively inexpensive, and easy to do. It covers topics such as:

  • food
  • crafts parties
  • holiday celebrations sports
  • games
  • creative solutions to common household problems
  • family challenges
  • educational projects
  • home organizaing
  • home decorating
  • foods that are fun to make to to eat

Writers guideline for FamilyFun

FamilyFun is aimed at activities and ideas for fun loving-creative parents which makes it different than most family-oriented magazines. It does not accept unsolicited manuscripts for feature stories however it will accept them for Everyday Fun, Family Getaways, Family Traditions, and Creative Solutions. Queries should describe the content, structure, and tone of proposed articles. There is a lead time of five months in advance of publication. This is especially important for seasonal material.
